As a celebration I shall reflect briefly on how this year went for me and this web project. A lot has changed for me since I have started this project, I have grown quite a bit as a person and an individual and my create outlook has changed quite a bit.
Due to my firstly irregular posting schedule I do plan to commit myself to posting on a more regular schedule. For now I decided to stick with monthly releases so I can manage my life and university. However at some point once writing becomes a more consistent habit I plan on increasing that number to 2 per month and see where it goes from there. I just do not wish to put too much work onto myself so I don’t burn out before doing everything. As rather I have quite a bit on my mind including stories and philosophy posts.
Essay posts
I have been experimenting a fair bit with academic writing styles, due to it adding more cohesion to my writing, however I also need to balance not alienating my audience from my work so early on. This is a balance I must strike, however due to the theme at hand it might be difficult. Nonetheless my goals remains the same, a vision to bring philosophy and critical thought into the public eye. As for academic styles I have to admit citations are a great way to make it clear whose thoughts I am citing and they guide my audience to explore beyond my post into those texts themselves.
Another great aspect with practicing with academic styles is that it helps me with my academic career. I get to do more than just term papers where I ought to practice. Having written almost entire term paper length essays makes it easier for me turn writing into a habit. Hopefully writing will become effortless at some point with enough practice. Although not all is the same, as my native language is not English there is a bit of a barrier between both of those worlds, however no skill that I learn in one cannot be transferred into the other. One thing I have noticed is that the English audience generally has lower attention spans preferring more sensationalist writing, including general English sentiment historically on rejecting humanities as a science. All of which can pose a problem once showcasing my work, however not something that cannot be overcome.
Short stories
As for short stories I plan on writing more of those in the upcoming time as to practice my creative thinking. Eventually I plan to return to my old story Vampire’s Obsession that I announced at the very start, however I need to revise the story and add more conflict as to make it more interesting. I have struggled the most with the plot, however the characters and setting are entertaining themselves, at least by my judgement. It is at least my first attempting at writing a novella length story so I will be returning to it at some point once I practiced enough writing with short stories first.
This brings us to short stories that I consider another important aspect of my website I want to work on way more. This poses a great challenge where I have to strike a balance between my creative and philosophical sides which can be quite challenging. Although one cannot overpower the other as they both offer great insight and different aspects of the truth.
However writing from a more analytical perspective and moving towards a more creative perspective has enriched my mind and soul. I feel more complete having seen the world from both sides that allows them to enrich each other, in a dialectical fashion. Where one works together with the other to create a more complete picture of the world.
Plans forward
As for the future, my plans are certainly vast and I want to keep my options open. I don’t want to limit myself to just one thing, which is more than evident from the way I have been handling my website and creations I have shared on there. I want to try experimenting with various different methods and learn from what I create. I can creatively mold and try out various different art forms which I have done so far.
Additionally I started my own newsletter Epistles of Revolt which can be found on substack. I invite everyone who enjoys reading my blog to subscribe to my newsletter as I will be posting more regularly on there from now on. There will be a special announcement post with the details coming soon.
However currently there is no clear method or form in which I plan to do most visual arts. I see this as a garden with unripe seeds and it excites me what possibilities lay in there. What unique and mystical plants shall grow from the artistic garden. As for my short stories there I plan to experiment with forms and motifs briefly writing stories that showcase what I believe to be of a true aesthetic value. Stories I want to write are primarily for aesthetics, however are not limited to that, they can involve a philosophical lecture however they should never be limited to purely that purpose. They elevate themselves into their own realm of the aesthetic and artistic. There I want to experiment and showcase different sort of atmospheres as in settings that I imagine differentiated by various color and object motifs.
Nonetheless I want the original vision to remain forever and do not plan to change it, that is to maintain a space where I can be truly authentic and express myself freely. That is all I can say about my creative vision for my website. It exists in the hypertext rhizomatic network of the internet. Each day it gets more bound in this network and hopefully at some point it overtakes the entire internet. Let every link lead towards my website and let the eyes that gaze upon it feed into the insatiable beast I have unleashed onto the world.
